Sunni and Shiite

Sunnis and Shiites practice very similar beliefs.  The major difference between the two religions is that Sunnis are more radical than Shiites. It is very important to know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite.  Right now the United States of America is fighting a war against Al Qaeda.  Al Qaeda is a very radical group, so they are Sunni.  It is important for the United States to know as much about the enemy it is fighting as possible. This will allow the United States to target the enemy’s weakness.  If our nation’s fighters know all about the enemy, they can train and prepare for battle easier.  If soldiers know how big the group they are battling with is, they can pack the correct equipment.  Leaders will be able to predict how many troops to send out for battle quicker and easier.  If the enemy that a country is fighting is not very developed, that country can use its own technology to defeat the enemy.  If the countries fighting know a lot about each other, they will be able to better understand the enemy’s point of view.  Then, hopefully the countries will be able to make an agreement instead of going to war with one another.  Many of our nation’s leaders do not know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites.  This is an alarming fact.  If our nation’s leaders don’t know the difference between their enemies, than they won’t know how to properly prepare for battle, or resolve differences instead of going into battle.
